ABOUT THIS CAMERA

The first Malleefowl Live Camera was installed in the ‘Mallee Exhibit’ at the Adelaide Zoo in 2017 & was a collaboration between NMRG & Adelaide Zoo. The exhibit housed two Malleefowl as well as numerous other mallee birds. Whilst the live camera was interesting in observing Malleefowl behavior, the Malleefowl were in captivity & their behavior modified accordingly.

The advent of more affordable satellite access paved the way for a live camera to go fully off grid and the long-term goal was always to do just that. Toward the end of 2022 the Zoo camera was decommissioned, equipment was purchased & the project for a remote Malleefowl live camera began.
